Another week, and another HIV-positive person in the United States is accused of using their spit as a weapon.
This time a homeless Cincinnati man has been charged with two counts of "harassment with a bodily substance" for spitting on a police officer during his arrest following a fight.
At least in Ohio, this isn't considered attempted murder, but there's been plenty of negative media coverage, including headlines such as 'Police: Man With AIDS Spits On Officer' and 'Suspected AIDS Patient Allegedly Spit At Cops'.
The piece from kypost.com at least notes that this is an "odd" story, and that
Many pieces of research claim that HIV is not carried in saliva.
