An 18-year-old man infected with HIV has been arrested on suspicion of having had unprotected sex with four teenage girls, Corren reports.

According to prosecutor Marianne Staaf, the man is suspected of assault.

One of the girls he had sex with is fifteen year old, while the three others are all aged seventeen.

"One of the girls has been tested and she wasn't infected. The other three are awaiting results," Staaf told Corren.

Police fear that the 18-year-old may have had sex with more girls.

HIV man jailed for infecting teen

A 35-year-old man has been jailed for three years after infecting a 14-year-old girl with HIV. The man had been on trial for raping the girl and a 57-year-old woman, but he was acquitted on these charges.

The 57-year-old also contracted HIV from the man, but the court said it was not proven that he knew that he had the virus at that point.

The young victim was on the run from a rehab clinic when she had sex with the man. Both women reported that they had been raped after they were diagnosed with HIV, two years after sleeping with the man.

The 14-year-old told police that the incident "has ruined my life," according to Expressen.

The man, who is an asylum seeker based in the Stockholm area, will be deported for life after serving his sentence. He was also ordered by Stockholm District Court to pay 800,000 kronor in damages to the girl.

The convicted man's lawyer told Expressen that he was generally pleased with the outcome, but would discuss with his client whether to appeal the conviction.

The man said he had become infected with the virus after being given a blood transfusion in his homeland. He claimed to have needed the transfusion after being assaulted by political opponents.

Man convicted of spreading HIV

A 27-year-old man who had sex with several women without telling them he was HIV-positive was sentenced to seven years' jail in Sweden on Thursday.

The man infected at least two of his partners with the virus that leads to AIDS, the court heard.

He was convicted for aggravated assault, spreading a virus and for attempted aggravated assault for endangering the lives of others.

The identity of the man, who is not Swedish, has not been revealed but according to Dagens Nyheter newspaper he is from Zimbabwe.

He will be deported and will not be able to return to Sweden before January 1, 2018, a court official told AFP.

He was also sentenced to pay a fine of 267,000 Swedish kronor ($38,582) to the three women, according to Swedish news agency TT.

A doctor found out in March that several HIV-infected women had had sex with the man, according to TT.

An administrative court first sentenced the man to isolation earlier this year, where he was offered therapy sessions to make him understand the gravity of his acts.

After the isolation he was arrested and detained until the trial started last week.

"He does not have any excuses," judge Sven Martinger said.

Other cases of men spreading AIDS have surfaced recently in Sweden and an inquiry has been launched about a 32-year-old HIV-positive man who could have had intercourse with hundreds of women.
